Dr Richard M Marshall

I've always liked to build things. Since I outgrew Lego I've been building software, development teams and most recently companies.

I'm Founder and CTO of Rapid Mobile Media Ltd in Edinburgh, Scotland. We founded the company in February 2004. We mobilise applications, but are now focussing on Ad360 Mobile Advertising Platform.

I like to think of us as creating mobile applications that people actually use, but we go much deeper than that.

This blog, however, is much more about my observations on the last frontier, the world of mobile technology. And anything else that crosses my path.

Films on iTunes in the UK!

Wow, seems the Goblins of the film world have had their arms bent and now you can download films from iTunes in the UK. Only several years after you could in the US. Sigh.

Maybe mobile isn’t the last frontier - it’s rights management.

Rights management, yep - and, for music, performing rights. Witness the closedown of US Internet radio stations as the US government attempts to retrospectively tax them for PRO fees - and artists signed up with PROs cannot even waive their rights to their own material for Internet broadcast.

If podcasts come into the same radar, we’ve had it.

But I digress… you’re talking about films, with their own wagonload of legal machinery.
