Dr Richard M Marshall

I've always liked to build things. Since I outgrew Lego I've been building software, development teams and most recently companies.

I'm Founder and CTO of Rapid Mobile Media Ltd in Edinburgh, Scotland. We founded the company in February 2004. We mobilise applications, but are now focussing on Ad360 Mobile Advertising Platform.

I like to think of us as creating mobile applications that people actually use, but we go much deeper than that.

This blog, however, is much more about my observations on the last frontier, the world of mobile technology. And anything else that crosses my path.

Electrosmog

Just discovered a cool new word - Electrosmog. All the radio-frequency noise that fills the air round us - WiFi, mobiles, DECT phones, plus all the stuff people don’t think of like Police radios, taxi with their mobile data, microwave links and no doubt a good dose of random RF noise.

Yes, I can confirm that it exists. When I turn on my microwave oven to warm up milk for a latte, my nearby Airtunes (on Airport Express) cuts out.

By the way, how did you manage to outgrow Lego?

p.s. Mobile is not the last frontier. Haven’t you heard about mobile virtual reality? ;-)

  2. Richard Marshall Says:

Well Paul, we do still have quite a lot of Lego, ostensibly for my daughters!

Mobile virtual reality? Isn’t that where most of the business models are invented?
