Dr Richard M Marshall

I've always liked to build things. Since I outgrew Lego I've been building software, development teams and most recently companies.

I'm Founder and CTO of Rapid Mobile Media Ltd in Edinburgh, Scotland. We founded the company in February 2004. We mobilise applications, but are now focussing on Ad360 Mobile Advertising Platform.

I like to think of us as creating mobile applications that people actually use, but we go much deeper than that.

This blog, however, is much more about my observations on the last frontier, the world of mobile technology. And anything else that crosses my path.

Back

I’m back, having managed to not read e-mail for two and half weeks. That’s a record for me, I think, since I started using e-mail systematically back in 1980. (Yes, there was e-mail in 1980, even if you had to write your own software!)

The holiday was not without technology, with plenty of fun playing with my new Canon 350D and a pair of very fine lenses: 10-22mm  and 28-135mm zooms. Superb and great fun. The difference between a D-SLR and even the top-end digital cameras is remarkable, although you probably have to have used a film SLR to appreciate just how good it is.

We also visited the brilliant image and technology-base theme part Futuroscope near Poiter in France. Amazing graphics, including dual-screen Imax, hemispherical Imax and Imax Solido 3D. Lots of real-life fun too, with my younger daughter absolutely loving the water jets in the heat.

Hi Richard, how are you? Funnily enough, I’m going to Futurascope at the end of August. Glad to hear it’s good. Hope the mobile phone industry is going well and so on. I don’t really need a particularly good digital camera for what I do with it!

    Keith.

    Hi Keith

Good to hear from you! The park is fantastic - you’ll appreciate the image stuff in particular. The imax shows are breathtaking. I was less taken with the video game style rides as they were two short and rough to be absorbing.

    Enjoy
